the luxury hotel and gardens of quinta das lágrimas are always on your mind when living and working in coimbra.. with a history that precedes it, it is one of the city's greatest landmarks, along with the centennial university. the first references to the garden date back to 1326, and it is a true botanical museum with rare and ancient trees. it began as a religious order, became known as the home of a queen, but what made it famous was the love story, with touches of shakespearean tragedy, experienced by star-crossed lovers pedro and inês de castro in the 14th century. it was to honor them that the former quinta do pombal became quinta das lágrimas. it is here that the history of other times merges with the life of the city today, making it a pleasure to come back and enjoy the different dynamics of the space.

sofia's choice - spa
in a more modern building we find the bamboo garden, an amazing spa. the elegantly decorated spa offers an indoor pool overlooking the grounds, massage rooms, sauna and turkish bath: an excellent choice for a relaxing evening of pampering... I have to admit, it's almost too good to be true, this is where we choose to have our weekly meeting.
marta's choice - garden
within the medieval embrace of the garden stands the elusive fonte dos amores. here, tales abound of inês stumbling upon small wooden boats carrying pedro's tender messages. for all of these years, the flowing waters of the fonte dos amores have nourished the vibrant essence of this timeless garden. the perfect place to stroll around and relax, or take advantage of the gold club and maybe take a few swings.
cláudia's choice - restaurant and events
there's something in the air about places with history, as if those who have passed through over the years have left an indelible but somehow recognizable mark. maybe that's why, as our dear li can attest, it's the perfect place for unforgettable weddings and parties. it also hosts an annual arts festival, with classical and jazz concerts, dance shows and gastronomic moments. all in the palace gardens, which come alive with this initiative. another attraction is the arcadas restaurant. with signature cuisine using seasonal products and awarded a michelin star, this is another reason not to be missed.
li's choice - the epic rooms
for me, quinta das lágrimas was not love at first sight, but being more connected to coimbra, being more connected to this space. and the first time I really spent time appreciating it, I realized the true beauty of the living rooms. if you love design, you know that preserving it is one of our greatest obligations. so when you visit a place where comfort, beauty and past coexist perfectly, you know you have to respect it! 
daniela's choice - the amphitheater
the colina de camões amphitheater, a project by the landscape architect cristina castel-branco, is just one of the hotel's great assets. this stage of lights and shadows is currently the setting for events and huge shows that serve the hotel's guests and the city's residents. a plus. but, I must admit, it's also the perfect place for a simple team brainstorming session or to practice the now extinct art of contemplation.
