I have to admit that i still haven't found my ideal ornament, and so in my research I've come across many things, from the most banal to the most eccentric.
in my research for this article, I tried to find out why we decorate christmas trees. despite its pagan origins, the tradition of decorating a christmas tree is believed to be more than 500 years old, and was started in 1419 by bakers in freiburg, germany. they began decorating a tree with apples, fruit, and nuts. on new year's day, children could shake the tree and eat what fell from it. this evolved into homemade trees.
first, the trees were decorated with paper roses, apples, nuts and cookies. then other decorations appeared, such as lights, glass balls, stars, bows, angels or other figures. here at home, we certainly can't do without chocolate.
here are some suggestions for a different kind of christmas tree. embrace the festive spirit as the holidays approach.
